This that shit that ya’ll wanted? Well I sure did! Finally, the long awaited mixtape from Pusha T is released. Wrath Of Caine is like a preview on what we can expect to hear on his debut solo from, My Name Is My Name. Wrath Of Caine honestly sounds like an album. 11 tracks of pure hip-hop with sharp hooks and verse from Pusha T. The mixtape features production from The Neptunes, B!nk, Jake-One, Harry Fraud and so many more. I still can’t believe Pusha gave this out for free! Don’t fear Pusha’s wrath, give this a download, you won’t regret it.

k roosevelt rosegold

Friends with Hit-Boy? That enough gets my attention. K. Roosevelt is a producer and artist that is on Hit-Boy’s HS87 label and he just released this fantastic EP, RoseGold. The nine track EP is filled with smooth R&B sounds with production by K. Roosevelt and Hit-Boy. Loving his sound so far and can’t wait to see where he will be going!

One of my favourite artists, Slakah The Beatchild, is working away in his Toronto studio on his second instalment of the Soul Movement. As we wait for the album to drop sometime this summer, Beatchild give us a teaser on what to expect. I love it so far and can’t wait to hear the whole project!

Its been 5 years since the release of Soul Movement vol 1. Back with a new line up of amazing talented guests including Glenn Lewis, Justin Nozuka, Andreena Mill, Tingsek, Spek Won & more along with soulful beats and live instrumentation, Soul Movement 2 is set to drop Summer 2013! Pre Orders Open This Spring.

It’s Alicia Keys’s birthday today and she drops a remix for her track “Brand New Me” off her amazing album Girl On Fire. Keys takes the classic 90s track “Gypsy Women” by Crystal Waters and adds her own voice. Man, I remember “Gypsy Women” when it was in elementary school! “Gypsy Women” has been sampled soooo many times, it’s crazy to keep count.

The bawse is ready to take over 2013 once again. But before he releases his next studio album, Mastermind, Rick Ross first gives the street “Box Chevy” to hold things down. I have good feeling that this will end up on Ross’s mixtape first then it will be added as a bonus track on Mastermind.

You may have heard Drake preview a verse for a track back in June of 2012. I had no idea if it was a new Drake record or a featured verse but the mystery has finally been solved. Produced by Jake One, the track “Number 15” by Nickelus F is such a smooth ass record. Drake spiting his Toronto flow is just perfect. I’ve been craving for a new Drake record and while I wait for his new single “Started From The Bottom”, this track will do just fine.

The record “Number 15” is featured on Nickelus F’s free album Vices, which you can download for free.

unorthodox joey bada$$

The 17 year old Brooklyn lyricist, Joey Bada$$ releases a brand new song with the legendary DJ Premier. I listened to Joey Bada$$’s mixtapes 1999 and Rejex and I loved his flow. He’s on everybody’s radar. Labels are fighting to sign him and other artists want to work with him. Joey Bada$$ spit a verse for A$AP Rocky’s amazing track ‘1 Train’ on his debut album, LONG.LIVE.A$AP which is in stores now.

Can’t wait to see what this kid has in store for 2013!

Suit and Tie

After releasing his 2006 album FutureSex/LoveSound, Justin Timberlake started doing some movies roles, started his own clothing line, and did a few guest verses and production. As his fans kept thinking that Timberlake may never be going back to music, he comes back with a storm! The first single since ’06, “Suit & Tie” is produced by Timbaland and features Jay-Z. I applaud Timbaland on his production. I was a little afraid what he had in store but Timbo is definitely back.

I love, LOVE this record so far and I cannot wait until he announces the release date for his third solo album, The 20/20 Experience!

Purchase Suit & Tie on iTunes. You won’t regret it!

the cover of life cocaine 80s

As I was going to sleep last night I decided to check my Twitter one last time. What did I see? Cocaine 80s dropping their brand new EP, The Flower of Life. If don’t already know, Cocaine 80s is a Chicago group made up of No I.D., Common, James Fauntleroy, Steve Wyreman, Rob Kinelski, Kevin Randolph, and Makeba. So you can tell by the roster that the music will be amazing!

When you download The Flower of Life EP, you will also be getting Cocaine 80s previous EPs; The Pursuit, Ghost Lady, and Erxpress_OG.

Cocaine 80s is quickly becoming my favourite group! “Fly Ass Pisces” is a brand new record which will be featured on their new EP, Flower Of Life. I just can’t get enough of James Fauntleroy’s voice and Common’s amazing lyrics. I’ve never heard of Jhené Aiko but I love her voice so far.

Common also made the announcement on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon that he will be releasing an EP in January, first ever mixtape in April, and a brand new album September.

Loving 2013 in music so far!
