J. Cole is putting some finishing touches on his album and he is about to send to mixing. But before we get Born Sinner on June 25, Cole drops a little something for free. It’s hard to say who will have the summer on lock down, but Cole does have the best rhymes.

In the latest release from “Still Standing” J Shiltz teams up with Junia-T of the Smash Brovaz for “From The Soul”. I love how J Shiltz continues to rap on soul inspired beats. The Juno award winning Relic provides both the soundscape and cuts for “From The Soul”. “Still Standing” will be available for free download on May 9th.

Loving every minute of this song cause it makes me feel so alive! After finally releasing their new single, Empire Of The Sun drops the stunning visual. I can’t wait to hear the new album! So ready for it.

Funny, I was listening to God Forgives, I Don’t yesterday. As we await new music from Rick Ross and Omarion this year, they drop the official video for Ice Cold. Just in time to because the weather is starting to get good and this is a great record for the summer.

Daft Punk officially released their new single ‘Get Lucky’ on April 18 on iTunes and Pharrell gives the first live performance the day right after. Many people are disappointed with the new single because it’s not a fast paced beat. I love it! Daft Punk is trying to bring that funk back and live instrumentals to the electronic world and I can’t wait to hear how it will sound like on Random Access Memories.

Maybe this will inspire Pharrell to create a new NERD album or even a second solo album.

Hey ladies, how many drink would it take you to go home with Miguel or Kendrick Lamar? Love the album, love the single, but in my honest opinion the track doesn’t need a rap verse. Miguel’s album is perfect as it is, no gimmicks. Though I do like it when Miguel provides vocals on rap songs! Hahahah

It’s about damn time G.O.O.D. Music’s Travi$ Scott drops a new single from his long awaited album Owl Pharaoh. ‘Upper Echelon’ features Tip and Two Chaaaaaainz! Scott is one of my favourite up-and-coming rappers, every song he’s been on has been heat. Pusha T’s ‘Blocka’ and Hit-Boy’s ‘Enormous’ are both bangers. The guy comes up with crazy hooks and his voice is really grimey. Now I wonder when we’ll get to hear Owl Pharaoh.

First we get hit with the summer anthem ‘No New Friends’ and now Drake hits us with a smoother R&B track. ‘Girls Love Beyonce’ features James Fauntleroy from Cocaine80s who sings a great rendition of ‘Say My Name’. Drake goes back to his R&B vocals while mixing it up with his rap flow. Nothing Was The Same is coming soon.

No new friends-drake-

BOOM! The summer has officially started. When are people gonna learn, DJ Khaled runs the radio! There are no new friends here, Drake brings along Rick Ross and Lil Wayne for the “Started From The Bottom” remix. This heat is produced by the OVO clique, 40 and Boi-1da and it will be played throughout the year.

Drake will also be releasing another track this week on Octobers Very Own, so stayed tuned.

Ice On the Dune

My favourite Australian duo are back! Empire Of The Sun released their new single “Alive” from their upcoming album Ice On The Dune. I remember when Walking On A Dream came out and I was looking everywhere in Toronto for the album. The music on there was very west-coast style; good for long drives and sunny BBQ parties. I wonder how the new album will sound like.
