common-congrat

OK, this is the Common that I know! His verse on Big Sean’s new single “Switch Up” was a little weird but he’s back in his comfort zone. The soul sampled beat is done by the legend No I.D. and Cocaine80s provides the smooth vocals. I remember in January, Common said he will be dropping a mixtape but nothing has come through. Hopefully this free track is a good sign.

Live life through Frank Ocean’s world. I would love to get lost around the world! This is still one of my favourite albums and I can’t wait for Ocean’s new stuff.

pusha-t-numbers-on-the-board

Inspired by his big brother, Kanye West gives Pusha-T the green light to drop a track on this hip-hop Thursday. Don’t know if this will appear on My Name Is My Name, but the track is so hard and Pusha’s rhymes are dangerous. Now we just need Kanye to drop a track!

jay-z-open-letter-swizz-beatz-timbaland

While we were all getting up and going to work this morning, Jay-Z released a new track for our commute. ‘Open Letter’ address all the rumours that have been going around Jigga and Beyoncé. Hopefully this is a learning lesson for all the tabloids and news outlets.

miguel-how-many-drinks-remix-kendrick-lamar

Looks like this has been a Miguel week. First we hear his vocals on Talib Kweli’s new song, then he gets killed by J. Cole, and now he releases a remix to How Many Drinks. Miguel chose right by picking Kendrick Lamar for the remix. I just wish that Miguel changed up the song a little instead of just pasting Lamar’s verse.

Um, wow. I was not expecting J. Cole to release such a dark video for his single ‘Power Trip’. I don’t wanna spoil the ending for you, but Cole’s obsession over a girl consumes him to do sin. Born Sinner will finally be released on June 25.

prisoner-of-conscious-talib-kweli

Talib Kweli is a hit or miss for me, I loved his album Ear Drum but then I didn’t care for anything after. Now he is ready to release his new album Prisoner Of Conscious this month and so far it sounds great. Kweli’s new track ‘Come Here’ is my favourite so far because of Miguel’s smooth voice! This track will be on repeat this whole week. The beat sounds so family though. It reminded me of Marvin Gaye’s classic “What’s Going On”.

I finally saw Jessie Ware perform live in Toronto on Saturday and it was amazing! Her voice was perfect and she was hilarious. It was at The Opera House which made the concert very intimate. During her set, Ware performed her new single ‘Imagine It Was Us’ from her album Devotion (US version). If you’ve never heard of Jessie Ware, then you should really get to know her ASAP!

switch-up-big-sean

It’s time for Big Sean to kill it in 2013 and with that he releases ‘Switch Up’ from Hall Of Fame. It’s funny how Sean is talking about how he hasn’t switched teams and yet Kid Cudi has decided to leave G.O.O.D. Music. Common spit a verse but it’s really weird hearing him on this type of beat.

dedication-j-shiltz

The Mississauga born rapper J Shiltz, returns in 2013 with a hot new track “Dedication.” The smooth sound vocals of pHoenix Pagliacci is what really did it for me. With her vocals and J Shiltz witty raps, the song is perfectly balanced. Produced by Charisma, I really love the vintage vibe and the way it ends out. Still Standing, the new album from J Shiltz drops in early May. Can’t wait to give it a spin!
