Hennessy held their first artistry event of 2014 and it was nothing but pure awesomeness. The Hennessy artistry series is known for bringing big names like DJ Premiere and mixing it up with local Toronto artists like Glenn Lewis. This time the series took the things to the next level by having the legendary Questlove perform… without his drums! For that night he went by DJ Questlove and replaced his drums with some turntables.

When I found out that Questlove will being doing a live DJ set at Tattoo I knew right away I had to see him because of his vast knowledge and love for all genres in music. Before he even stepped out the crowd was enjoying the sounds of violinist Yosvani, Toronto’s rising artist Adria Kain, and DJ Dlux who did a great job stirring up crowd.

Questlove’s set on the other was nothing but pure greatness. For three hours straight, he dug through his deep catalogue of records and mashed up everything and anything. At one point the sold out crowd didn’t know how to handle all the music so (because of his ego) Questlove got on the mic and tried to get everyone moving. With my Hennessy in one hand and the other in the air, I grooved with Quest and I didn’t want him to stop! I loved it when he would mix something like Jamiroquai with Kanye West.

I can’t wait to see who Hennessy will be bringing for their next artistry series!
